Instructor Training Courses

United Divers is one of the few dive centers in the nation that can provide the training needed to obtain the Advanced Open Water Instructor rating. This Advanced Instructor rating stands alone in the industry with the highest combination of diving knowledge and experience. No other dive training center's advanced open water level compares.

At United Divers, We Are Diving. Are you?
Dive Control Specialist Course (ADV302)
Overview:  Dive Control Specialist (DiveCon) or Dive Master (DiveMaster) is United Divers' initial dive leadership level and is considered by many as the "fun" leadership rating. That's because you can do more than any other entry-level dive leader. You can do more because you receive both dive master and assistant instructor training in the Dive Control Specialist course. With other agencies, these courses are separate.  United Divers is currently looking for DiveCons or divers looking to become DiveCons to join our instruction staff.

Knowledge: As a Dive Control Specialist you can:

Work on dive boats, at resorts and retail stores,
and take people diving
  Lead dive trips and tours
Assist Dive Instructors in the pool and open water
Teach skills in the pool under the direct supervision of an Dive Instructor
Teach the Scuba Skills Update program
  Teach the Snorkeling program
  Teach selected Specialty courses
Teach selected First Aid and CPR programs

Skills: You will study advanced physics, physiology and decompression theory. You'll practice advanced rescue techniques, fine-tune your diving skills and learn the basics of teaching. Plus, there's a high demand for Dive Control Specialists at retail shops and exotic resorts.
Open Water Instructor Course (ADV303)
Prerequisites: Enrollment is limited to six individuals. Please call ahead for additional information and requirements.

Overview:
This highly specialized program will help you develop into a qualified Dive-Cons and Scuba Instructor. Unlike some other Instructor Training course that are "week long crash courses", our intensive program evolves over a 13-week period.

Learn to be a Scuba Instructor the "United Divers Way." Most instructor programs focus only on teaching diving. However, most dive businesses require much more of instructors than merely teaching. The Instructor Training Course (ITC) prepares you to become an active member of the scuba industry, a successful educator, and a valuable dive business employee.

Knowledge: The program includes all aspects of instruction
to include:

Techniques for recruiting, teaching and evaluating students
The United Divers' provided Education System and Education Philosophy
How dive industry stakeholders interact (manufacturers, media, agencies, retail and travel)
How successful dive retailers and resorts operate
Effective techniques for teaching in the pool and open water
  Legal aspects of teaching
The basics of educational sales using Customer Loyalty Cycle

Skills: United Divers' Instructors possess business knowledge that instructors from other agencies don't. The expanded course content of the ITC gives you an edge over "teaching only" programs and makes you a much more valuable, well-rounded employee. Additionally, once qualified you will be able to teach:

  Try Scuba Course
  Passport Diver Course
  Open Water Diver Course
  Scuba Skills Update Course
